You'd think that since the Star Wars character has spent his entire life in a galaxy far far away, flying around in a spaceship he'd be tired of looking at the stars. However it does seem somewhat appropriate that an observatory has been crafted in his visage.
At Carleton College in Minnesota a group of astronomy students took on a massive scale prank: transforming their observatory and astronomy building into an enormous R2-D2. Despite the crude paint job all in all I'd say this is a fairly decent representation of the domed little droid. Mostly I want to know who was brave enough to go out and paint the outside of the dome. Talk about dedication.
I love the prank and wouldn't mind seeing an actual building in the shape of droid (it'd be the coolest office building ever). But of course next year, the next group of students are going to have to try and top this prank, but it's set kind of high now. Maybe next year they can turn the clock-tower into a Lightsaber.
