I guess being that this is all part of a viral campaign we can expect more interesting things to come later. But as a first reveal, this clip isn't incredibly fun to watch. It's a short clip that only shows off how Andrew Garfield is portraying Peter Parker this time around. While that in itself isn't bad, the whole scene feels...off.
In truth, it feels like they are trying to copy the hilarious Peter Parker vs. Bruce Campbell scenes from the first Spider-Man films. Sadly, this fails to measure up...not even a little bit.
Like I said, it's not terrible out right, but something seems weird about it. It's like they wanted something similar to those Bruce Campbell scenes, but then decided that would be referencing the previous films too much. While I do want to see more of how Peter Parker will be portrayed, this clip does very little for the character. Perhaps some knowledge of what happens before or after would have helped, but as it is, it's only meh. I'm sure the Mark of the Spider-Man campaign will yield more, so let's hope for something a little stronger next time.
