I've always been a big fan of viral marketing. I think it's a neat way to get people more involved and invested in a film rather than traditional means of advertisment. Sometimes it's unique and fun, but almost always they confuse the Hell out of me. Even though I enjoy them...I'm terrible at figuring them out. The new Spider-Man one, is no exception.
When Sony sent us the trailer in the wee hours of the morning, I poured over it and soaked it all in. Then as I was going through it frame-by-frame (yes, I'm THAT guy), I noticed something. Other fanboys have begun noticing it too and people are starting to talk about it. It's not easy to spot, but it's on this frame near the end of the trailer:

Okay, yeah...it's still not easy to see, but if you zoom in on the lower left hand corner you'll see it:

It says Mark of the Spider-Man. That seems odd, and a quick google search pulls up a website called, MarkoftheSpider-Man.com. Imagine that. Thing is, this website doesn't really show a whole lot. There's the Spider-Man logo at the bottom and then 6 squares of static. It's like watching an old TV with terrible reception. If you look at them long enough, you can tell there is something within all of that static...but you can't make it out.
It's frustrating and a look at the page's source code doesn't reveal much either. So at this point, I'm totally at a loss. Like I said, I'm not very good at these things, so I'm hoping one of our readers will be able to figure it out and share it with the rest of us.
