Renovations to the theatre will add a bar and food accommodations to the viewing experience. Similar to other dining movie theatres such as Studio Movie Grill and Alamo Drafthouse, Sundance Houston will need a defining aspect to remove itself from it’s competitors. That aspect is the Sundance Film Festival. On January 26, Sundance Houston will gets it’s opportunity to screen a film (TBD) from the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. This is a one night only event which adds a sense of grandeur to a new theatre opening. With the tie-in to the festival, this gives fellow Houstonians a chance to watch a film not normally available to them.
Sundance Houston Cinema is also holding two grand opening events on November 21 with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and the Houston Cinema Arts Society, and on November 22 with the Montrose COunseling Center and Galveston Bay Foundation. Each event will support all the organizations hosting the grand opening festivities. So if you are interested in being apart of something special and truly enjoy film, make your way to the event and see something in Houston not many moviegoers get the opportunity to do.
