Film director's these days seem to be trying their hardest to accomplish one thing: secrecy.  It's a growing trend and as they start to get better and better at keeping their projects under-wraps, it makes one wonder if it's actually helping, or could it be part of the cause for sub-par film releases?

A Roundtable Discussion

Over on The Hollywood Reporter’s website there is a Round Table discussion with the directors of some of the top pick’s (some say shoo-ins) for this year’s Academy Award Best Picture nominations. They are:

James Cameron (Avatar), Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds), Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker), Peter Jackson (The Lovely Bones), Jason Reitman (Up In The Air), And Lee Daniels (Precious).

DGA Makes History: Kathryn Bigelow

I’m very proud to see the Director’s Guild of America making history.  For the first time in its 62 years, the DGA has finally awarded its top honor, the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film, to a female director, none other than Kathryn Bigelow, who helmed the visceral and gritty war film “The Hurt Locker”, an almost docu-style film that follows a member of the Army’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal team through a rotation in Iraq.
