Peter Billingsley

Then: We all remember Peter Billingsley in the classic 1982 A Christmas Story, a beloved holiday film of all time. Playing Ralph "Ralphie" Parker, his most memorable moments are him pleading with Santa Claus and his parents for a Red Rider BB gun.

Now: It looks like he has outgrown that geeky, childish quality. No ugly duckling here. Billingsley still remains an actor today as some of his recent roles were in Iron Man and Four Christmases. His latest venture is his step into directing a film by Vince Vaughin, Couple's Retreat. Quite a change from the young kid in A Christmas Story, no?
Edward Furlong

Then: Furlong broke into Hollywood at the age of 12 in the popular James Cameron film, Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Starring with our California 'governator', Arnold Schwarzenegger, it introduced him to multiple roles.

Now: Aging was not generous to Furlong. Once a heart throb in the early 90s, he has now fallen on the sex appeal scale. Furlong is still an actor and currently involved with a small role in The Green Hornet.
Arsenio Hall

Then: Many of us recall Hall's fantastic and hilarious portrayal in Coming to America with Eddie Murphy. Outside of Coming to America, Hall was primarily known for his early 90's talk show "The Arsenio Hall Show."

Now: The wear and tear of Hollywood has not affected this man one bit as appearances go. It always shows that laughter is good for the soul. Hall hosted MyNetworkTV's comedic clip show "The World's Funniest Moments" from 2008-2009. The actor has recently been spotted as a regular guest on the "Jay Leno Show."
Michael Schoeffling

Then: As one of the hottest young men in the 80s, Schoeffling played Jake Ryan in Sixteen Candles. Schoeffling was the young man every teenage girl and young woman would dream of even years later. These kind of good looks do not disintegrate, or do they?
Now: Schoeffling took off on a different direction after his modeling and acting career. Finding current photos of Schoeffling has become a figment of our imagination. What is known is that he is living in Newfoundland, Penn. building hand-crafted furniture with his wife and children.
Steven Seagal

Then: Seagal's notoriety as an ass-kicking action film-star (with no acting ability) was boosted during the 90s. Such films as these include Under Siege, Under Siege 2, and Above the Law.

Now: Seagal's career may have come to a major halt, but it looks like his weight has not. The once slim, decently attractive man has turned into quite the sow. Just this year on April 12, a former employee of his filed a lawsuit against the actor. Why? He was allegedly sexually abusive towards her, and rumor has it he's been holding two Russian women in his home as sex slaves. Whoa. Talk about a turn for the worse. To dive deeper into further speculations, his former wife Kelly LeBrock stated she was "not surprised" to hear about these Russian women. What else could Seagal be harboring? It appears that Seagal is not 'above the law,' now is he?
Kirstie Alley

Then: A very pretty lady, Alley played in the cute and adorable Look Who's Talking franchise. Travolta's success in Saturday Night Fever without a doubt pushed Alley further along. It definitely was not because of her ability to act or even listening to her squeaky, whining voice. For those who have not had the pleasure to see Look Who's Talking, most would recognize Alley as Rebecca Howe on "Cheers."

Now: Her latest project is displaying her public weight battles on her semi-scripted reality show, "Kirstie Alley's Big Life." One thing we can say, she has gained it. Lost it. Gained. Lost. Will it ever end? She needs to take discipline and remain dedicated to keeping it off. If she did it before, she can maintain a slimmer figure. When push comes to shove, Alley is not the best looking overweight woman (very few women can pull it off). As the pounds shed, she still is a very good looking woman (even 20 years later). Some could argue she ages like fine wine; the older it gets, the better it is.
Mark Hamill

Then: Fans (even lack luster believers of the force) know this face as the iconic Luke Skywalker. Hamill became the most memorable and alluring Jedi to date (until you see him today).

Now: Hamill apparently hasn't followed the trend of 'under the knife' by the looks of him. Living as an icon of the 70s, news travels fast when you aren't the best looking stud on the block. There is no trace of our favorite Luke Skywalker. Hard to believe age can transform you so much. Putting it all aside, Hamill has recently announced that he will be directing The Black Pearl, a comic book miniseries he co-wrote.
Macaulay Culkin

Then: Culkin played in one of the most entertaining films of the 90s, Home Alone. Adorable as a child, Culkin perfected his role against the idiotic robbers. During the 90s, Culkin was the highest paid child actor of all time. Not too shabby for a kid star.

Now: Culkin hasn't done much in the Hollywood scene since 2007. He did make a cameo appearance on "WWE Raw," as he participated in a Home Alone spoof. Other than that this once famous child actor has been dating actress Mila Kunis (voice of Meg Griffin, Family Guy) since 2002. It looks like Culkin has been put to pasture, but we will never forget his brilliant success in Home Alone.
Jennifer Grey

Then: Grey was known for her hot, saucy dance sequences with one of the best actors (and dancers) in Hollywood, Patrick Swayze. Grey played Frances "Baby" Houseman in Dirty Dancing. She soon was the butt of every nose-job joke known to man as she became unrecognizable (gratitude to rhinoplasty) in the early 90s. Grey's performance with the combination of innocence seemed an unlikely pairing, but the movie became a dance film of a lifetime. Sexy. Tempting. Exquisite.

Now: Since then, Grey has hung up her dancing shoes for a different avenue. At the amazing age of 50, she is focusing heavily on motherhood to her daughter Stella with her husband, actor-director Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson, Iron Man).
Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski

Then: The Crocodile Dundee stars not only shared the screen together, they also married in 1990.Crocodile Dundee was one of the most successful films ever in Australia. The movie instilled the idea: were Australians really like that? It painted an intriguing picture of what croc-wranglers were in a mere fictional manner. It nevertheless provided entertainment.

Now: Unlike a lot of Hollywood couples, these two are still happily together. Unfortunately, the two were dragged through the mud after Hogan was connected to an Australian $300 million (AU - estimated $250 million US) tax fraud investigation.
Ralph Macchio

Then: Macchio's notable role was as Daniel Larusso in The Karate Kid. The film produced a chain of The Karate Kids. The movie shows there is more to martial arts then simply fighting just to look 'cool.' It inspired great messages and morals for kids to follow instead of letting your anger take over. It even launched Macchio into the movie My Cousin Vinny where he played the wrongly accused cousin of Joe Pesci.

Now: Much has been quiet for Macchio, but he was a regular guest on the last season of Ugly Betty, playing the politician Archie Rodriguez.
Let's face it, these individuals are past their prime. Some great. Other's average. Yet some refuse to let go of what they once were by reinventing themselves in various aspects of Hollywood. The attempts appear to be futile and maybe they should walk away. It's like seeing Molly Ringwald in recent flicks. She's associated with a certain era and trying to get out of it is a battle never won.
