Welcome back for another edition of News Bits.  What is it you ask?  The film world can get quite overwhelming at times in the news that releases.  Unfortunately some of this news is just too small to warrant a full article. Rather than deprive you of the news, we've created this section.  This week in news bits we’ve got announcements, funny pictures, trailers, posters, and tons more inside!

With Benicio Del Toro officially passing on the film earlier in the week, many have wondered who is going to step up and take his place as the villain for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek follow-up.  Without wasting much time a new actor is in the running for it.

And just like that, a very prominent, very controversial internet rumor is laid to rest.  Thank god for that; wasn't that weekend of suspense just killer!

I suppose it's a good evening for Star Trek fans who've been eagerly awaiting any news on the upcoming sequel to the J.J. Abrams reboot as a slew of info has now come out, including a brand new release date.

While just about everyone had assumed his, J.J. Abrams has been fairly non-committal about his level of involvement in the sequel to his Star Trek reboot.  With rumors flying around about that he'd be moving on to several other projects after Super 8, there were still doubts he'd return to the bridge of the Enterprise.  Well, he's now put all of that to rest and confirmed his next project will be Star Trek 2.

And yes, that pun was completely intentional.  But that's not important right now!  Star Trek 2 may be facing a delay!

Star Trek 2 advances, next Jack Ryan film stalls. Star Trek 2 still has no director, and the next Jack Ryan film still has a billion writers.  The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Today, I'm sneaking in a two-fer for news for you guys.  The sequel to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot is something fans have been dying to hear any news about.  As the script is still being written and Abrams isn't signed on for it yet, things have been fairly slow.  Hopefully recent events means it's starting to ramp up.

Paramount Pictures wants to film Star Trek 2 in 3D, but J.J. Abrams will not commit to it until he sees a script.

Rumors of the famous “KHANNNNNNNNNNNN!” appearing in the sequel to 2009’s Star Trek have been running rampant as of recently. Well fans would certainly love to see a J.J Abrams style Khan, that doesn’t seem to be a reality at this point. But that doesn’t rule out any other characters from the original series.
