After a long search including high profile names such as Russell Crowe, MGM has finally chosen it's Robocop; The Killing star Joel Kinnaman.

And just like that, a very prominent, very controversial internet rumor is laid to rest.  Thank god for that; wasn't that weekend of suspense just killer!

Fresh from playing the villainous Magneto in X-Men: First Class, Michael Fassbender has now revealed that he would indeed be interested in playing RoboCop in the planned remake from director Jose Padhila.

Robocop is going down in my classics collection of loved movies. It was groundbreaking for the sci-fi genre, and today it has aged into something timeless. While the film is still fresh in our minds, Hollywood isn't holding back on an attempt to reboot the franchise, in ways you won't believe.

As good an indication as any that MGM is serious about a Robocop remake, they've hired a screenwriter to go with the director.

Or found a candidate at the very least.  The point still remains; MGM is once again serious about rebooting RoboCop.  Read on to find out who they want handling it.

Robocop is dead. If you're an 80's kid this is news should really hit you hard because we all went through that phase of thinking we were Robocop, didn't we? According to the guys over at Cinemablend MGM and Aronofsky couldn't get it together and there won't be a reboot/remake of the iconic 80's Robot Cop that ate criminals for breakfast - and then pooped out a baby food like substance. What was that about anyway?
