Universal Pictures sent out a press release just a little bit ago announcing that filming for the Riddick film has officially started...even though it actually started a little while ago (and the set pics prove it).

Last month, quite a few of us were shocked to hear that production on Riddick, the continuation of the Chronicles of Riddick franchise, came to a sudden halt when the cast and crew were locked out of the production facility for non-payment.  Now it looks like they've secured funding and are ready to try again!

Earlier this year Vin Diesel stated that they could start shooting the new Riddick movie as early as summer. Well he was right, they did indeed have plans to make it, but the movie isn't exactly filming just yet. Instead casting calls are making their ways for the upcoming "Riddick" and it's already sounding rather awesome.
