TheMoviePool recently got the chance to sit down with Green Lantern on blu-ray, which has been doing surprisingly well in DVD/blu-ray sales, in order to tell you whether or not it's worth picking up.

Green Lantern for some odd reason is being considered a box office failure, however WB is still planning to have him return to the big screen. I guess the positive fan feedback outweighed everything else? Or perhaps WB's new ideas the the second movie are so awesome that passing it up will be a crime?

Green Lantern was expected to do better than its performing, but is far from being called a total flop. There is still hope in the franchise and WB/DC still seems dedicated to getting more superheroes into the market. WB has stated that a second movie for Green Lantern is indeed on the way.

It was a rather interesting weekend for box office as several studios took many risks. You would think its an off weekend that isn't full of much interest. Due to the fact Green Lantern was the only big budget release still counting numbers I would usually agree? However that wasn't the case.

The Blackest Night is upon us! Cower and tremble, for there is no one to save us. Director Martin Campbell has birthed a twisted and deformed child, stillborn yet a deadly threat to any siblings still gestating in the womb. Not only has a potentially great franchise been killed before it was even given a chance to live, but Green Lantern has done what every super-villain in the pantheon has been attempting for the last eight decades: it has killed the super-heroes.

DC’s first big franchise starter (outside of Batman and Superman) is finally here.  Is it really as bad as the critics are saying, or is there something worthwhile in the comic book adaptation?  TheMoviePool is here to help sort through it all.

When it comes to superhero movies, nothing is more important than the origin story.  It sets up not just the character, but the tone and future plot points of the franchise to come (or in some cases, the movie itself).  If you botch this, then you’ve already botched the entire franchise potential (as seen from such classics as Daredevil or Punisher). And for a movie like this week’s Green Lantern, first impressions are everything.  If they don’t like the first outing, why would audiences come back for a second? Summer 2011 is huge. I've said it once, and I will say it again. Because of the somewhat "overstuffed" nature of the season, it's rather natural for some films to be pushed out of the public eye.
