Finishing off this guide is going to be tough.  Yeah, we've had a lot of great films featured in the last four parts, but I still feel like this Prelude is—incomplete.  That's because, quite honestly, some of the most exciting films of next year don't even HAVE release dates yet.  Steven Spielberg's Linoln, Paul Thomas Andersen's The Master, Nicolas Winding Refn's Only God Forgives—and plenty, plenty more.  Even some I can't talk about because I have ZERO knowledge of their existence.  I mean, a year ago, who knew anything about The Artist? Now, it's one of the most praised films of the year.  I can't predict what film will become next year's hit sensation.  But hey, just because I can't do that, doesn't mean I can't talk about all the stuff we DO know about.  The Django Unchained, Hobbits, and Skyfalls of the world.  Even if I can't talk about all the big, Oscar worthy films of next year, I CAN talk about some of them.  And so, with that statement in mind, here's the final part of TMP's Prelude to 2012.

Ah, my god friend Gravity. It's been a while since I've revisited the film, but since that time, it has entered production!  Finally, all the soap opera shit is done; now, the movie making can begin.  And if Guillermo del Toro would have you to believe, its completely worth the wait.

Those who have been reading TMP for the last year or so will probably know my anticipation for Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity. It has been a love/hate relationship, however.  It seems everything that could go wrong with getting this film in front of cameras HAS gone wrong.  They lost a star, tried to get another star, didn't get the other star, so they cast another star, but during that time the CO-STAR dropped out causing them to find another co-star.  You keeping up with me, right?  Well after all those problems, I'm thrilled to say the film will finally see the light of day...and it will start shooting sooner than you might think.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about director Alfonso Cuaron’s next film, Gravity.  Last time we checked, Robert Downey Jr. had just left the project do to schedule conflicts, and Sandra Bullock had seemingly been cast as the lead.  The saga continues in the production of Gravity, but, low and behold, it’s for once good news; George Clooney has been cast in Robert Downey Jr.’s place.

Hey, it’s been five days since an update on Gravity!  Well, that’s a problem.  Thankfully, Warner Bros. is aiming to change that, and is now adding another actor to their list of potential stars to take on Gravity.

Remember how the future of Gravity was in doubt a while back?  Well, not if Natalie Portman has anything to say about it.

Unless the film can get a big enough star, the future of Gravity is in doubt.  But does a recent script review indicate that  the film is much more ambitious then ever imagined?  Will this potentially groundbreaking film ever have a chance on hitting the big screen?
