Yesterday, director Gary Ross confirmed that he was no longer set to direct the sequel to The Hunger Games, Catching Fire.  Not missing a beat, Lionsgate already had a shortlist prepared for who could take the reigns of the franchise.  And you know what?  About all of them are better choices than Gary Ross.  Find out more about the shortlist right after the jump.

Ah, my god friend Gravity. It's been a while since I've revisited the film, but since that time, it has entered production!  Finally, all the soap opera shit is done; now, the movie making can begin.  And if Guillermo del Toro would have you to believe, its completely worth the wait.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was, to put it mildly, a complete and utter disaster of a film that almost obliterates all good will that the franchise has ever earned.  To put it harshly, it was a very bad movie.  But can Disney atone for its bad behavior?  Will they actually try to form a cohesive film?  If this director shortlist is any indication, they're at least going to TRY.

Those who have been reading TMP for the last year or so will probably know my anticipation for Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity. It has been a love/hate relationship, however.  It seems everything that could go wrong with getting this film in front of cameras HAS gone wrong.  They lost a star, tried to get another star, didn't get the other star, so they cast another star, but during that time the CO-STAR dropped out causing them to find another co-star.  You keeping up with me, right?  Well after all those problems, I'm thrilled to say the film will finally see the light of day...and it will start shooting sooner than you might think.

Hey, it’s been five days since an update on Gravity!  Well, that’s a problem.  Thankfully, Warner Bros. is aiming to change that, and is now adding another actor to their list of potential stars to take on Gravity.

Remember how the future of Gravity was in doubt a while back?  Well, not if Natalie Portman has anything to say about it.

Unless the film can get a big enough star, the future of Gravity is in doubt.  But does a recent script review indicate that  the film is much more ambitious then ever imagined?  Will this potentially groundbreaking film ever have a chance on hitting the big screen?
