Taika Waititi, who has worked on Flight of the Concords directing 4 episodes and appearing in one, will be playing Hal Jordan's best friend and fellow test pilot. Temuera Morrison, best known for playing Jango Fett in the new Star Wars trilogy, will be Abin Sur, a member of the Green Lantern Corps who recruits Hal Jordan to join their ranks.
Green Lantern begins shooting today with Martin Campbell helming and Ryan Reynolds starring as Hal Jordan. The cast also features Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins and super nussie Blake Lively. The film is set for a June 2011 release in 3D, despite it not being shot in 3D.
