I am a very big fan of the Pirates franchise.  Even so, I never really saw a need for a fourth movie.  While I've been eager to see the pics from the flick and was quick to post on the first official trailer, I can't honestly say I've been excited for it.  Sure I have an interest and I know I'll be seeing the first weekend it's out, but my enthusiasm has been pretty low.  That's changed.

So I just got a chance to check out the extended trailer, which I wasn't in any hurry to see.  The commercial that aired during the Super Bowl wasn't impressive and was only a re-cut of the first trailer.  Imagine my surprise when I see this extended version and it's got new footage and even more story to it.

Wow!  I'm really excited for this film now.  The story is looking interesting, and the vibe this trailer throws off is very similar to that of the first film.  Also exciting is the swordplay they showed.  The first film had plenty of sword-fighting action, but for some reason the next two films shirked on it.  I'm looking forward to that aspect coming back.

Now I'm impressed and can't wait to see more from this movie.  May 20, 2011 isn't getting here fast enough.
