Rights for the movie were acquired by 20th Century Fox and is being produced by Tim Burton. Timur Bekmambetov of Wanted fame is set to direct this adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel and is slated for a June 22, 2012 release date (in 3D no less). Grahame-Smith is the author of the New York Times bestselling book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which is also being adapted for film.
The premise for the film is simple. Abraham Lincoln is avenging the death of his mother who was killed by a vampire. After managing to kill the vampire responsible for his mother’s death, fate has it that Abraham Lincoln becomes a vampire hunter.
Rumor is that Hardy will take on the role of Henry Sturgess, a vampire, mentor and friend to Abraham Lincoln. Could this be the role that finally puts the talented actor on the path to super stardom? Only time will tell. Stay tuned.
