The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles project is finally moving forward.  After Michael Bay’s production company, Platinum Dunes, bought the rights to the franchise, many have been looking forward to a new iteration in the series.  Finally, Paramount Pictures (who is distributing the film) has recently signed on the duo behind the first Iron Man to tackle the script.

HeatVision broke the news late last night that scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway were  penning the next installment in the monolith TMNT franchise.  Besides their aforementioned work on the first Iron Man, Marcum and Holloway also did some touch ups on 2008’s Punisher: War Zone.  They recently wrote a new remake of the classic Highlander series, as well as a new iteration of Buck Rogers.

This is either great news for the new TMNT, or “meh” news for the new TMNT.  I personally really enjoyed the clever mix of humor and action in the first Iron Man, and feel that a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that sticks to that tone could be great.  Yet half of me wonders if it was Holloway and Marcum who injected that comedy into the film, or director Jon Favreau and actor Robert Downey Jr. who did.  Well, it seems time will tell for whether or not this recent addition to the film will be worth it.  Personally, I hope so.
