Normally I'm very opposed to working on a sequel before the first film is even out.  Yet a big part of me is getting excited about this.  At the very least, Expendables will be a fun film.  It might not have the depth or story that we really want out of it, but I don't think anyone could walk away and say that it wasn't a fun ride.

Truthfully, I'm expected something on par with an old school early 90s action flick.  That's plenty for me, and would work for this type of film.  Either way the producers are working hard on the next film and are hoping to receive the green light on it next week after the first round of box office numbers come in. Avi Lerner, the producer, had this to say:

"We will wait until Monday and see what the numbers are like...But I am pretty confident right now that we will be back and work is already underway [on the sequel]. Why not? I know everyone in this would like to do another and I know I would."

For me, the next little quote he let slip was the most exciting: "We want to line up even more big names next time round and we are already thinking about who to ask," That's exactly what a sequel like this would need.  There are so many people I would love to see mixed in with the already impressive line-up.  I'm rooting for Jean Claud Van Damme to get over himself and join up for the next one.

Again it all depends on how well this first film does.  So be sure to go out and support it this Friday (the 13th) when it hits theaters.
