Ever since the words, “I don’t see it as a series, maybe a movie,” were uttered in the series finale, fans have been clamoring for an Arrested Development film. The first problem was getting the whole ensemble together, a group of people who have grown relatively big since their Arrested years. That issue was eventually conquered and, at this time, most of the main cast are willing to come back to what made them originally popular in the geek circuit.
During a Television Critics Association tour to promote his new show, Running Wilde (which curiously enough features Arrested Development alums Will Arnett and David Cross), Hurwitz announced that the script is “halfway through”. According to him:
“The reason I’ve been so cagey about is fans have been so (eager about it). I really want to do it. Jason Batemen gave an interesting quote recently saying ‘when we get it, we’ll read it, and decide if we want to do it’ (Hurwitz gives a What? Really? look).”

I doubt the film will be like this, but we can dream.
Half of me wonders if making an Arrested Development movie is worth it. I mean, I want to see the characters back again (I really do) but it’s been four years since the end of the show. The actors have aged considerably, and have become bigger stars than they once were. Has the best time passed for an AD movie? Only time (and possibly the box office) will tell. Until then, we can at least take solace in introducing people to one of the best shows ever and doing everything in our power to try to implement hilarious quotes in our day to day lives. Ah, the little things.
