Nothing terribly huge here, just a quick update. Looks like some new banners have dropped for M. Night Shamaylan's newest flick The Last Airbender. This is based off of the hit TV cartoon show playing currently on Nickelodeon titled: Avatar, The Last Airbender.
I am glad to finally see some sort of image coming from this film. So far things have been fairly tight-lipped on the production (as they always seem to be with any M. Night does), and outside of the quickie teaser trailer we received almost six months ago no one has really seen anything on this film. In fact, until I came across these banners today I had honestly forgotten about this film.
Say what you will about M. Night, I still think he is an amazingly talented director. I know he has had a rocky last couple of films, but the fact that he took on this project says a lot...to me at least. He's always had pride in his films, probably too much. He wants his films to be done his way, and no one can tell him different. While I admire this aspect in some ways, I fully recognize the fallacy of it. Closing yourself to other suggestions just isn't a good idea, especially when they're coming from an established studio. After his last film (which didn't do very well) I feel he has at last been humbled. He is now handling an adaptation, in essence someone elses story, which means he at last has to follow someone elses "rules". I fee his willingness to do such a thing means he has made some positive changes.
These posters look incredible. They bode well for the look and feel of the film. Hopefully we'll start to get more a steady stream of pictures and maybe even a full lenght trailer in the next month. Until then, enjoy!
