The deal was made off of a pitch and short teaser by Bobby Glickert who was a PA on Bay's 'Transformers'. With Bay neck deep in 'Transformers 3' and behind a ton of other projects including JJ Abrams latest film 'Super 8', I think it's great that he is basically allowing a fresh face to break into the industry. With Bay's Platinum Dunes producing and Paramount distributing I'm sure he'll have every opportunity to knock one out of the park. Let's just hope it's not too close to last year's 'The Fourth Kind'.
My hats off to Glickert because these are the stories you read about and are always told in film school rarely ever happen. So for all you aspiring filmmakers out there here is the proof that writing a great script or pitching a great concept are the quickest routes to getting in the directors chair for the big boys. Not bad at all for a kid from Austin,TX. This is about as good as it gets to go from Production Assistant to Director. Not much of a bigger score out there. Unless of course your Cash Warren and you go from PA to being Mr. Jessica Alba. Beat that Bobby Glickert.
