I've been a huge mega-fan of the Family Guy parodies. They hit the mark everytime and blend irreverent humor into a story that they so obviously love. It's a good blend, that few other parodies have been able to actually accomplish.
I'm very much looking forward to the next one but am a little saddened at the news coming from Comic-Con. According to the Family Guy panel this will be the final Star Wars parody they do. So there's no hope for a quirky take on the prequels. Due to the cost that it takes to make these extended episodes the team has decided to not do anymore.
According to the creators of the show they aren't looking to do any full out movie parodies at all. The only way it seems possible is if they decided to do an Indiana Jones one, but even that's not for certain. It's sad to see but I can understand the reasoning behind it. So let's keep our fingers crossed that we'll eventually get to see the Indiana Jones Family Guy sometime in the future. Until then we'll just have to enjoy what they've given us.
Good news coming from the panel includes an official release date and the title of the last adventure. It's a Trap (based off of the classic line spoken by Admiral Ackbar) is set to hit store shelves on DVD/Blu-ray on December 21st 2010.
