Perhaps I'm being too harsh. I'm a very big fan of Green Hornet and still enjoy watching the original television show. So maybe some of my fanboy bias is coming out. The pics seem to exude a very campy feel (almost like the old Adam West Batman & Robin show) and I haven't quite decided whether or not that's a good thing. It might be fun to have some of that old feeling, but not taking a more modern approach to this film can be detrimental.
With Seth Rogen as the titular hero, keeping away from campy is going to be harder to pull off, but you never know...this could really turn out to be something great (we'll find out Jan 14th 2011). The pictures aren't bad, but they're kind of middle of the road. They're not showing us anything we wouldn't have seen with any other action/hero movie.
It just feels like a safe move for the studio, but hopefully the trailer will make up for it with some good footage. For those of you curious the trailer is debuting tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live (and then on the internet soon after).
