Broom sequence from 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' stays true to the original

A new featurette put out by Disney talks about the inspiration for the film (an 8 minute cartoon) and how they've adapted it into their modern live action film.

I was always a big fan of Fantasia and even people who didn't particularly care for the film, still hold some affection in their hearts for the classic Sorcerer's Apprentice segment, in which Mickey Mouse becomes overrun by magical broomsticks who get out of his control.  It's a great scene filled with an incredible amount of tension, and pretty much provided the basis for the upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer film.

Since I've heard about this film I was really wondering how they would handle the broomstick scene.  I knew it had to be in there somewhere, but until now Disney hasn't released much in the way of footage on the scene (outside of a couple 2-3 second clips in a trailer).  This new video focuses completely on the new scene, with some nice commentary about how they wanted to modernize it.  All-in-all it looks pretty good, and I'm surprised at how well they managed to stick to the feel of the original, while stepping it up for a new generation.

Despite what the poster above says, the release date is July 14th (they changed it to a couple days earlier).
