To be honest I really had absolutely no interest in this film. Personally I don't care for movies involving animals that act incredibly like humans. They seem odd to me and at this point feel way over done. The last movie I enjoyed like this was the old 2D animated Secret of Nimh. Even with Zack Snyder (arguably my favorite director after seeing Watchmen) helming this one, I found it hard to muster up any excitement.
After seeing this trailer, I can say I don't really have that problem anymore. Frankly the film looks gorgeous, and even though we're dealing with birds going to war, Snyder's typical art style (slow-mo and everything) are still showing through. Unlike their teaser trailer, this one gives way more information on the story, where as before it seemed like some goofy bird movie. Now we get a grasp for how adult the subject matter actually is. It seems like a great little adventure story with humor mixed in, and not just a little bit of high-flying battle action.
The film releases Sept 24th of this year and is sure to rinse that awful taste of Marmaduke out of your mouth. More than anything this trailer has actually got me really craving a Redwall movie, based off of Brian Jacques incredible book series about animals that wage war in medieval style castles...it's a lot better than I made it sound.
