And the next unnecessary remake is...

Following the current trend of remakes, someone thought it would be a great idea to bring back Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead.

Studios are finding more success than they anticipated with their 80s remakes (Karate Kid and A-Team are currently rocking the charts, and receiving some very decent reviews) and it looks like they're going to try and continue their remake success by jumping over just a couple years to 1991.

Produced by the Mark Gordon Company this remake is currently shopping around for some writers (so we're talking very early stages here).  For those unfamiliar with the story think of it as kind of a Home Alone rip-off instead it's 3 children left over the course of an entire Summer.  The elderly babysitter ends up croaking and the kids must fend for themselves until their parents return home.

It wasn't a bad movie, in fact it managed to hit it's key demographic perfectly, but that was also it's flaw.  It couldn't hold a wider audience and has since just kind of fallen off most people's radar.  I don't particularly care to see this remake, but who knows, with these others finally starting to find the right balance, this might actually be watchable.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Christina Applegate cameo!
