If you don't recognize the title [Rec] I'm really not surprised. It's the Spanish horror film that Quarantine ripped off. It takes place in an apartment complex were terrible things happen and end up unleashing demonic monsters that are very similar to zombies. All of the action is seen from the viewpoint of someone's handheld camcorder. The only difference is Quarantine couldn't pull it off...[Rec] did.
Either way, the original film has gained such a cult following that a sequel has been made that takes place a mere 15 minutes after the first film ends. This one goes way more into the religious aspect of it, as it follows a group of armed men sent in to handle the situation, all lead by a priest. The end goal is to retrieve a sample of one of the infected's blood, supposedly in the hopes of finding some sort of cure.
The trailer for [Rec]
All kinds of things go wrong, and a bloodbath inevitably ensues. The first film was entertaining and took a very fresh look at the zombie movie, and this one only seems to be taking it further. It's already released in its native Spain, and plans are to have a very limited release here in the States on July 9th. Never fear however, if the film isn't playing in your local theater it will also be released straight to DVD on the same day.
The latest red band trailer has hit the net. If you're brave enough to watch it, type in your birthday (or one that's old enough) and watch away!
