After reading about the new cast negotiations for the upcoming Scream 4, it was quite a shock to see news of a poster and teaser trailer. Investigating further into this recent discovery, an avid fan devoted precious time and some mad skills in creating an incredible poster depiction for the next installment (skills good enough to fool even some of the big movie news sites). The fan's poster was released originally on Scream-Trilogy.net, a daily fan site devoted to the franchise, and it's been making the rounds ever since.
This design contains strong elements of the posters we see on display in theater halls. It mixes the idea of the old with the new generation. It draws us in to remember the films from the past. The fog-like mask creates a phantom that continues to linger; no matter what you do, it is inevitable he will return to the game.
It is refreshing to see a concept that was simple, yet appealing. The colors, typography and use of imagery are outstanding! Craven would surely be impressed with this piece of work! The fan should even be hired! Comparing it to the past Scream posters, it surely gives competition to the paid professionals.
This artist goes above and beyond the call of artistry to compile a compelling trailer without using a single bit of new footage. The music sends chills down your spine and goosebumps on your arms. It peaks your interest as to what exactly will come forth in this next installment. Who will be the killer? Who can you trust? The anticipation is heavy and bold enough to draw those in with little to no interest in the franchise. As they say, curiosity kills the cat, but in this case - curiosity kills the screamer.
