Rob Thomas Gives Hope To 'Party Down' Fans That There Might Be A Movie In Active Development

Yeah, Party Down fans can now have false hope for a movie just like everyone else!  Not one to be left out of a party, series creator Rob Thomas assures us that a Party Down movie is in the works!  Just like he's been saying about Veronica Mars for years now!  Of course it's going to happen!  THE EXCLAMATION POINTS MEAN I'M EXCITED! The caps lock means I'm doubly excited!

...

And the ellipse means I'm doubtful. :(

And the backwards smiley face means I'm sad.

What is with series creators trying to break fan's hearts?  I mean, there was a point when a statement like this would make me super excited.  A point when I believed the creator of a cancelled TV show truly believed he could make a movie.  But after the Arrested Development scuttlebutt, I'm just not sure anymore.  And as much as I want to get excited about this, there's a mental blocker in the back of my mind whispering to me "Don't get excited, pal; it ain't gonna happen."

This weekend at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, a fan asked about a potential Season 3 of the show, which was canceled last year.  Of course, the cast said that there would be know Season 3, but creator Rob Thomas did comment on a possible movie based on the show:

There's a video for ya, if you're like me and are to lazy to read.  TheMoviePool.com: Helping the Lazy and Illiterate Fufill There Common Goals.  You're welcome, guys.

But in all seriousness, a Party Down movie is probably closer to happening than Arrested Development or Veronica Mars movie is.  I mean, the show is co-created by Paul Rudd.  That has to mean something, right?

But even if this movie never happens, every single one of you reading this should see Party Down.  It's an amazing show about life in Hollywood, and one I think everybody reading TMP right now would enjoy.  And if this movie ever does happen, it will at least mean you're all caught up.  Then again, if it doesn't happen, that will make it's cancellation all the more frustrating.  But believe me, no matter what happens, its totally worth it.

Just your standard everyday movie nut.  I talk about film so you don't have to! But please, go right ahead. I love a good debate.
