Back in January, Jordan wrote a list of six film that needed to come to Blu-Ray. Well, since then, 2 out of 6 of those films have a conversation announced and on the way. I imagine he's pretty happy right now. I'm along with him, and will probably be purchasing this and Jurassic Park the day they are released. Especially now, knowing Spielberg's thoughts on digital correction. Unlike his friend, George Lucas, Spielberg believes films encapsulate the time periods they are made in, and should stay that way.

During an interview with Quint from Ain't it Cool News, Spielberg revealed that Jaws is getting remastered as we speak. Although its being enhanced for Blu-ray viewing, the film itself will not under go any changing. So yes, our friend the shark puppet shall remain in the film as the primary antagonist.
[In the future] there’s going to be no more digital enhancements or digital additions to anything based on any film I direct. I’m not going to do any corrections digitally to even wires that show. If 1941 comes on Blu-Ray I’m not going to go back and take the wires out because the Blu-Ray will bring the wires out that are guiding the airplane down Hollywood Blvd. At this point right now I think letting movies exist in the era, with all the flaws and all of the flourishes, is a wonderful way to mark time and mark history.
Apparently Spielberg feels guilty about digitally changing parts of E.T back in the day.
When people ask me which E.T. they should look at, I always tell them to look at the original 1982 E.T. If you notice, when we did put out E.T. we put out two E.T.s. We put out the digitally enhanced version with the additional scenes and for no extra money, in the same package, we put out the original ‘82 version. I always tell people to go back to the ’82 version.

Very cool indeed. I got to say, I love Spielberg's philosophy on this issue. I don't think I could respect this man more if I tried. Jaws on Blu-Ray has no release date yet, although I would gander late this year or early next. We'll keep you posted.
