First Trailer for David Fincher's 'The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo' Promises Nothing

You can't imagine how big a David Fincher fan I am.  I would go as far as saying that he's one of the best filmmakers working today.  His previous three films are all personal favorites of mine: Zodiac, The Social Network, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (yes, I'm one of the five people on Earth who love that movie).  So when I heard Fincher was going to remake the hugely popular foreign movie franchise based on the even more popular Millenium Trilogy, I was a little skeptical.  Those films already have a huge following, and would a Fincher directed remake add anything new to the table?  Well now, Sony has released the first official teaser trailer for the film.  And you know what?

I still don't see it.

IT'S JUST A BUNCH OF CUTS.  Don't get me wrong, I don't need a trailer to tell me every single part of a film's plot, but this trailer just feels empty to me.  Maybe it's because I haven't seen the originals (I want to keep my Millennium virginity intact, that way Fincher's remake won't seem lame just because I've seen the basic plot on screen before).  I honestly don't know.  But whatever the case, this trailer just didn't do it for me.  But the cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song' from Karen O and Trent Reznor?  Yeah, that was all sorts of badass.

Anyways, the trailer:

Official Plot Synopsis (via Screen Rant):

Disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), freshly sentenced to jail for libeling a shady businessman, and the multi-pierced and tattooed Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), a feral but vulnerable super hacker. Hired by octogenarian industrialist Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer), who wants to find out what happened to his beloved great-niece before he dies, the duo gradually uncover a festering morass of familial corruption.

The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo opens December 21, 2011.

Just your standard everyday movie nut.  I talk about film so you don't have to! But please, go right ahead. I love a good debate.
