“Highlander is a property that is known around the world, and Summit’s re-imagination is sure to appeal to both existing and new fans of the Highlander lore,” said Reis.

Neal H. Moritz’s Original Films and Peter Davis are producing this endeavor. Rui Costa Reis and Eliad Josephson, both RCR Media Group execs, are lined up as executive producers.

The scribes for the film are Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who worked together and co-wrote Iron Man, and will be joined by Twilight scribess Melissa Rosenberg. It seems to be quite a hodge podge of talent, so there is no idea where this new re-imagining will be headed, and Summit hasn’t said yet which direction they plan to take the 1986 classic. Yet I’m willing to bet that with this creative talent pool working together, we can definitely expect the unexpected and a fresh perspective.

So breathe a sigh relief Highlander fans because it’s a done deal. Now it’s just a matter of when.
