When it comes to superhero movies, nothing is more important than the origin story.  It sets up not just the character, but the tone and future plot points of the franchise to come (or in some cases, the movie itself).  If you botch this, then you’ve already botched the entire franchise potential (as seen from such classics as Daredevil or Punisher). I loved Kick-Ass, and I'm not afraid to say it.  Well it was cartoonish at some points (I'm talking to you, jetpack), I found it to be a great satire of comic books of old.  Thus, James Gunn's Super seems to be a movie completely made for me.

Kick Ass Review

Tuesday, 16 March 2010 02:22

The buzz around Austin on Friday was all over Matthew Vaughn's latest film KICK ASS, based on WANTED creator Mark Millar's comic series. People stood in the street handing out Kick Ass bumper stickers and a swarm of Kick Ass mobiles circled the Paramount Theater with their horns blaring. The line wrapped Four city blocks around the theater hours before the red carpet arrivals even began and I was just barely lucky enough to get in. As I walked through the doors of the 1,200+ seat theater I heard one of the Staff shout "only ten more" and I hurried to the upper balcony to make sure my butt was in a chair.

In short, it was a great experience but you want to know about the movie right?
